There are different types of attractions which are then
split into different types such as Heritage, Purpose Built, Natural and Events.

Natural Attractions- these type of attractions are natural attractions that haven’t been made by someone and are all natural which then attract attention; these are things like Beaches, Caves and Waterfalls that cannot be made.
Heritage Attractions- These are an old type of attractions that have been around a long time such as, Historical Memorials, Railways and Canals which have been made years ago and are still around as a popular attraction.
Purpose Built- Purpose built attractions are made to attract attention to then make money from people viewing or going to it. Some of the main attractions that have been made are things like Theme Parks.
P2 Role, effects on the UK economy - Alton Towers AJW
Alton Towers is a type of Tourist Attraction; this attraction is horizontally integrated and is the largest theme park in the UK. Alton Towers is a private limited company and is based in Alton, Staffordshire. Alton Towers is owned by a company called Merlin. They own 7 types of attraction throughout the UK and own several overseas. This attraction has a positive effect on the economy as it’s attracts tourists to come and spend their money in the UK, as a types of Inbound Tourism. It also attracts Domestic Tourism. As another positive it helps provide employment for people but as a negative there are only 750 permanent jobs available. At the start of the year when it first opens in March 2,500 jobs are given out throughout peak season and by the end when its due to close around November time there are 1,200 jobs left but again only 750 jobs are kept the whole year round. Every year Alton Towers has around 250,000 people visit.
